We would like to give a shout-out to the Preferred Care at Wall Subacute Unit Manager, Mrs. Taryn Mcnamara. Mrs. Mcnamara was benevolent enough to have the group interview her in order for us to have the information that we needed. We would have not been able to complete this project without her.

Conclusion

Conclusion

Our group learned a lot about MIS over the past semester, this project helped us take what we have learned to see how a company effectively uses it.  The company we picked was Preferred Care at Wall which is a nursing and rehabilitation center located in Wall, New Jersey. As mentioned on their website “Preferred Care offers a comprehensive continuum of clinical services with one overarching purpose – to help you regain your mobility and get you back to your regular schedule.”

Our group examined many different areas of this company relating to MIS.  We looked at their business strategy, did an analysis, and gave some recommendations to better the company.  In the business strategy, we looked at the five-forces model, their competitive strategy, and their value chain primary activities. In the analysis section, we looked at the company’s structure process, the dynamic process, the information system they use along with the components of the information systems.  Then under recommendations, we discuss the problems that we noticed along with the recommendations for the problems. Some of the problems included the fact that not many users interact on social media, it is inefficient and lacks access to the limited number of computers with PCC, or when entering inventory information into PCC there is a possibility of inputting duplicate medications. Some solutions or recommendations included, sign-ups For Tours on the Website, a more Interactive Website, implementation of vendor-supported operating systems and browsers to protect from online threats, and purchasing mobile devices such as tablets to be able to use PCC in many different locations.

Here are some of the key takeaways from our project.

·       The demand for rehabilitation centers and nursing homes has been increasing as the Baby Boomer Era is now retiring.

·       From a potential customer’s point of view, ease of services and getting back to a normal schedule is key.

·       Customer reviews and word of mouth is powerful marketing in the nursing and rehabilitation industry

·       Preferred Care at Wall needs to continue on working on its social media and marketing strategies.
